It was a very relaxed family wedding for Karen and Carl at the incredible Hotel du Vin Birmingham. An awesome venue for an intimate wedding ceremony followed by tasty food (I know, I had some!), hilarious speeches and lots of dancing, most particularly, a very special dance routine by the groom and his groomsmen to a 1D classic (hence the image above)… And don’t even get me started on the bridal suite, WOW! I’ll just mention that it has its very own gym. Enough said.
So relaxed were the lovely newly-weds to be that they were chatting happily in the foyer in their jeans just hours before the service, there was no mad panic, no rushing around, just lots of heartfelt moments and family members calmly helping with last minute preparations. There was a sense that they had both waited a long time for this day and that they were going to enjoy every second. I like to think the shot of Carl dancing back up the aisle captures this sentiment perfectly 😉
Carl had 3 best men (not so unusual these days), and the new Mrs Dean was not going to let the speeches pass without her chance to say a few words, so the speeches were pretty epic! Brilliant and heartwarming though with amazingly imaginative use of photos and videos that had the whole room rolling around with laughter. And they hadn’t even seen Carl’s prowess on the dance floor at that point.
I had a brilliant day, working with Jamie Burrell and all the things that a magnificent period building (it used to be the Birmingham Eye Hospital no less) and a city centre wedding has to offer. So a big thank you to the very Happy Couple for letting us share so many special moments with you and I hope we captured and bottled as many of them as possible so that you can relive it all again and again. x
